Freedom of Conscience

Freedom of Conscience - another one of the rights that are enshrined in both the UN Declaration on the Rights and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom is the right of freedom of conscience.

Again, this one seems to be increasingly under attack. In the recent provincial election, Premier Redford had to be reminded that right to freedom of conscience is in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Premier Redford and Conscience Rights

Then the Canadian Catholic Bishops wrote a letter that again spoke in defence of the right to religious freedom.

In Canada, we really do enjoy the freedom of speech, and freedom of religion. But still vigilance is necessary.
In many parts of the world, there is no freedom of conscience or religious freedom. Canada must stand up and speak for the rights of peoples throughout the world who have no voice.

As the American election heats up, more and more will be said about freedom of conscience and religion.
